Coaching Staff


David Lyme

Head Coach Staples High School Rugby, President and Head Coach Westport PAL Rugby, Head Coach Sacred Heart University Men’s Rugby and Forwards Coach NYAC D1 Elite Men’s Rugby. Lyme has grown the Staples Rugby program from 30 boys when he started in 2017 to reaching 100 this past spring and took the Varsity team to the CT State Championship game in 2018 for the first time in Staples history. Staples High School under Lyme’s coaching has produced 3 All Americans in as many years and numerous players being selected for the Connecticut All-Star teams, EIRA and All-American camps. Lyme is also Vice President of Connecticut Rugby and on the Board of Directors for USA Youth & High School Rugby

Lyme took up coaching in 2015 and has coached the Fairfield Yankees Men’s Rugby team to a National Championship in 2016. He resigned from the Head Coach position of the Yankees in the spring of 2018 with a 49-8 record. During his coaching tenor with the Yankees, he coached two men to professional Rugby contracts with the Major League Rugby competition (MLR) playing for teams in New York and Boston. In October 2018, Lyme started a consultancy business “Scrum Down Rugby Consultants” to assist TEAMS from all over the country to maximize their Rugby potential particularly in the set pieces (scrums/lineouts). Lyme has been involved in Rugby for 45 years, having played for 30 years in Australia. He has 3 children with 2 boys having been involved in the Staples Rugby program.

Lyme’s coaching philosophy is: “It’s about the relationships, the enjoyment of the game and most importantly about the culture of the TEAM. Unity within the TEAM with increased positivity and belief”.


Cassie Bishop

Cassie fell in love with the sport of rugby at Trinity College when studying abroad in Ireland and began her playing career with Akron Women’s Rugby Club as soon as she returned to The States. She continued playing for several other clubs in Ohio while finishing her undergraduate graduate degrees in sport management.

After completing her Masters in Sport management from Cleveland State University she moved to Connecticut and quickly found a home with her current club, New Haven Women’s Rugby. Along with playing she has spent time as a youth rugby coach in Ohio and Connecticut and is excited to move up the High School level. Traveling the world, meeting wonderful people, and making friends for life are just a few of the things she has gained from rugby. She looks forward to being able to give back to the sport that has been a part of her life for over a decade.


Jane Kim

Jane is a USA Rugby Level 200 certified coach and is excited to be a part of Staples girls rugby. Jane started her rugby career at Harvard (Radcliffe), and participated in the the team's first appearance at the National Championships in 1996, where she was named an All-American. Her career continued with the selection in 1997 for the inaugural US Women's U-23 team, representing the junior Eagles in a test match vs. Canada as well as at the Inter-Territorial Tournament. She continued her rugby career at New York Rugby Football Club before retiring and enjoying the occasional participation in low-stakes Sevens tournaments.

Jane strongly believes in the physical, social and mental health benefits of girls playing team sports, specifically in a sport such as rugby that appreciates a variety of athletic skills and strategic decision-making. She also believes in paying forward the life-long benefits that she has received from the rugby community.

Jane resides in Westport with her husband and two daughters.


Jack Corcoran

Jack graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Exercises Science, Specialist in Human Performance at Southern Connecticut State University. He is a Personal Trainer at the Edge Fitness Clubs (Fairfield CT)

He has played rugby for over 13 year, since 2006 and has played for multiple teams including Fairfield Prep, Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven Men's Rugby Club & Fairfield Yankees Rugby Club.

Jack was Rugby Coach at Fairfield College Preparatory Sophomore team in 2016. In addition he was Strength and Conditioning Coach for Fairfield Prep from 2015-2016


Jesse Koproski

Coach Koproski is in his 9th year with Staples Rugby where he has been a part of the incredible growth of the program in both number of athletes and success on the pitch. A member of Coach Lyme's D3 National Championship team in 2016 with the Fairfield Yankees RFC, Coach Koproski has experience coaching both 15's and 7's rugby at the middle school, high school, collegiate, and adult levels.

For the upcoming season he will coach the Sophomore team, continuing to develop the fundamental skills and understanding of the game in younger players.


Neal Seideman

Husband to Michelle. Father to Alexandra, Samuel and Benjamen. Member of collegiate rugby club, Washington University in St. Louis, 1987/8 to 1991.

Member of CT Yankees Men's rugby Club, 1992 to present. 2004 Men's D2 National Champion


Gaetana Deiso

“G” is certified with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is licensed through the state of Connecticut. She graduated from Springfield College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a minor in Nutrition. She begins her 13th year as Head Athletic Trainer at Staples. Prior to Staples, she worked 5 years as Head Athletic Trainer at Greens Farms Academy and at Moore Center for Rehabilitation. She also worked with Fairfield University’s football and rugby teams from 1999 to 2002. In the summer of 2002, she worked at Boyle’s Strength and Conditioning in Boston, where she trained many professional athletes and Olympic athletes. She was also on the CATA Secondary School Committee from 2007-2012. "G" is a Certified Functional Strength Coach and a TFW (Training For Warriors) Certified Coach. She is the owner of Body Blast Sports Performance. She lives in Trumbull with her husband, Doug, and daughters, Michaela and Gabriella.


Corey Iamonico

Corey is certified with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is licensed through the state of Connecticut. She graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. Upon graduation Corey worked for Forme Rehabilitation in New York where she was contracted to Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Mount Vernon, & New Rochelle High Schools. She returned to Connecticut in 2009, worked for Innovative Health & Rehabilitation, and covered New Canaan Youth Football, Staples High School in the winter, and worked in the clinic setting during the spring and summer. She is entering her 7th year as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Staples High School. She is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Practioner. Corey is originally from Hartsdale, New York and currently lives in Bridgeport.
