Coaching Staff


David Lyme

Westport CT, Head Coach Staples High School Rugby, Head Coach Westport PAL Youth Rugby, Head Coach Sacred Heart University Rugby.

Lyme grew the Staples Rugby program has shown an increase from 30 to 100 boys this past spring and took the Varsity team to the State Championship Final for the first time in Staples history.

Staples High School under Lyme’s coaching has produced 3 All Americans in as many years and numerous players being selected for the Connecticut All Star teams and All American camps.

Lyme took up coaching in 2015 and has coached the Fairfield Yankees men’s rugby to a National Championship in 2016 resigning from Head Coach of the Yankees in the spring of 2018 with a 49-8 record and having coached two men onto professional rugby contracts with the Major League Rugby competition (MLR) playing for teams from New York and Boston. In October 2018 Lyme started a consultancy business “Scrum Down Rugby Consultants” to assist TEAMS from all over the country to maximize their rugby potential particularly in the set pieces. (scrums/lineouts) Lyme has been involved in Rugby for 45 years having played for 30 years in Australia and has 3 children with 2 boys having been involved in the Staples Rugby program. Lyme’s coaching philosophy is:

Jack Corcoran

Jack graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Exercises Science, Specialist in Human Performance at Southern Connecticut State University. He is a Personal Trainer at the Edge Fitness Clubs (Fairfield CT)

He has played rugby for over 13 year, since 2006.

Jack has played for multiple teams including Fairfield Prep, Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven Men's Rugby Club & Fairfield Yankees Rugby Club.

Jack was Rugby Coach at Fairfield College Preparatory Sophomore team in 2016. In addition he was Strength and Conditioning Coach for Fairfield Prep from 2015-2016


Ben Klau

Ben graduated Staples High School in 2018 and will be attending Syracuse University in the fall of 2019.

He played football most of his life before switching to rugby in 2017.

Ben played varsity rugby for Staples High School and was a part of the State Championship Game in the spring 2018, he currently plays rugby for the Fairfield Yankees men’s rugby team and has signed to play rugby at Syracuse.


Neil Seideman

Husband to Michelle. Father to Alexandra (Junior at Staples), Samuel (sophomore at Staples) and Benjamen (8th grader at BMS) Member of collegiate rugby club, Washington University in St. Louis, 1987/8 to 1991.

Member of CT Yankees Men's rugby Club, 1992 to present. 2004 Men's D2 National Champion


Eric Johnson

Graduated from Norwalk High School and Sacred Heart University.

Lives in Norwalk. Owner JR’s Deli in Westport Coaches Brian McMahon Football and a member of the Norwalk Athletic Association.

Started coaching Staples High School rugby 2018 Has played rugby for Norwalk RFC, Sacred Heart University and the Fairfield Yankees Rugby club


Jesse Koproski

Coach Koproski is in his 7th year with Staples Rugby where he has been a part of the incredible growth of the program in both number of athletes and success on the pitch. A member of Coach Lyme's D3 National Championship team in 2016 with the Fairfield Yankees RFC, Coach Koproski has experience coaching both 15's and 7's rugby at the middle school, high school, collegiate, and adult levels. For the upcoming season he will coach the freshman team, continuing to develop the fundamental skills and understanding of the game in younger players.


Gaetana Deiso

“G” is certified with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is licensed through the state of Connecticut. She graduated from Springfield College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a minor in Nutrition. She begins her 13th year as Head Athletic Trainer at Staples. Prior to Staples, she worked 5 years as Head Athletic Trainer at Greens Farms Academy and at Moore Center for Rehabilitation. She also worked with Fairfield University’s football and rugby teams from 1999 to 2002. In the summer of 2002, she worked at Boyle’s Strength and Conditioning in Boston, where she trained many professional athletes and Olympic athletes. She was also on the CATA Secondary School Committee from 2007-2012. "G" is a Certified Functional Strength Coach and a TFW (Training For Warriors) Certified Coach. She is the owner of Body Blast Sports Performance. She lives in Trumbull with her husband, Doug, and daughters, Michaela and Gabriella.


Corey Iamonico

Corey is certified with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is licensed through the state of Connecticut. She graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. Upon graduation Corey worked for Forme Rehabilitation in New York where she was contracted to Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Mount Vernon, & New Rochelle High Schools. She returned to Connecticut in 2009, worked for Innovative Health & Rehabilitation, and covered New Canaan Youth Football, Staples High School in the winter, and worked in the clinic setting during the spring and summer. She is entering her 7th year as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Staples High School. She is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Practioner. Corey is originally from Hartsdale, New York and currently lives in Bridgeport.
